Some Bespoke commissions celebrate an individual.

Others commemorate an event.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Regatta celebrates an entire way of life.

Created as a one-of-one Phantom Extended, this extraordinary commission draws inspiration from the sailing culture of England’s southern coastline, the prestigious regattas that define its summer calendar and the maritime heritage that has shaped Goodwood for generations. Unveiled during the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Phantom Regatta demonstrates once again that Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke department is capable of creating automobiles that tell deeply personal stories through colour, craftsmanship and material selection.

Unlike many one-off commissions, Phantom Regatta is not inspired by speed alone.

It is inspired by the calm that follows it.

Inspired by the Waters of Goodwood

The commission takes its inspiration from the Solent, Chichester Harbour and the surrounding coastline visible from the Goodwood Estate.

These waters have long been associated with Britain’s yachting tradition, hosting legendary events such as Cowes Week, one of the oldest and most prestigious sailing regattas in the world.

The location also holds special significance for Rolls-Royce itself.

Only a short distance from Goodwood lies West Wittering, home to Elmstead, the beloved residence of Sir Henry Royce during the later years of his life. The commission therefore connects the marque’s founder with the landscape that surrounded him and the place where every modern Rolls-Royce is handcrafted today.

The Colours of the English Coast

The exterior immediately conveys its nautical inspiration.

Finished in Regatta Blue over English White, the two-tone paintwork recalls the elegant transition where the hull of a racing yacht meets the sea.

Rather than creating dramatic contrast, the colours flow naturally into one another, producing an understated elegance that perfectly suits Phantom’s timeless proportions.

Rolls-Royce Project Nightingale: The Silent Expression of Modern Coachbuilding

Even the polished 22-inch disc wheels contribute to the narrative, their mirror-like finish intentionally echoing the polished stainless-steel winches found aboard classic racing yachts.

The result feels less like an automotive paint scheme and more like a moving piece of maritime design.

An Interior Under Full Sail

Inside, the inspiration becomes even more apparent.

The front cabin is upholstered in rich Navy Blue leather, representing the depth of the sea, while the rear passenger compartment transitions into Grace White, evoking wind-filled sails and the foaming wake trailing behind a yacht under full sail.

Turquoise RR monograms reference the crystal-clear coastal waters surrounding southern England, while contrasting stitching and two-tone steering wheel detailing create a subtle continuity throughout the cabin.

Everything feels calm.

Balanced.

Effortless.

Exactly as a Rolls-Royce should.

A Yacht Deck Crafted in Wood

One of the commission’s most remarkable details lies within its rear picnic tables.

Rather than following conventional wood veneer techniques, Rolls-Royce’s craftspeople recreated the appearance of a handcrafted yacht deck.

Each table consists of sixteen individually laid Royal Walnut planks, all cut from the same section of timber to ensure perfectly matched grain patterns.

Between every plank sits an exceptionally fine strip of Black Bolivar wood, just two millimetres wide, replicating the caulking found on traditional wooden sailing yachts.

Completing these tables required approximately 120 hours of hand craftsmanship, illustrating the extraordinary level of detail that defines Rolls-Royce Bespoke commissions.

Watercolour: The Sea Captured by Hand

Perhaps the emotional centrepiece of Phantom Regatta is its unique Gallery artwork.

Named Watercolour, the piece stretches across the entire dashboard and was hand-painted directly onto open-pore wood by Rolls-Royce’s in-house artist.

Rather than reproducing a literal seascape, the artwork seeks to capture the movement of open water itself.

To achieve the desired effect, Rolls-Royce developed entirely new painting and blending techniques over a two-week period, refining colours, brushwork and application methods until the gentle rhythm of waves could be convincingly expressed across the wooden surface.

The result feels less like dashboard decoration.

More like a contemporary work of art.

Mapping the Sea Above

The Bespoke Starlight Headliner introduces another subtle maritime reference.

Its 1,307 individually placed fibre-optic stars do not depict a constellation.

Instead, they recreate the swirling tidal currents surrounding the Isle of Wight, translating the movement of water into points of light across the roof lining.

Together with the illuminated coach doors, the headliner transforms the interior into a tranquil environment inspired as much by navigation as by luxury itself.

Hidden Coordinates

As with many Bespoke commissions, Phantom Regatta hides its most personal details in unexpected places.

Each circular air vent carries an engraved set of geographic coordinates visible only when the vent is tilted forward.

One points to Goodwood House.

The other marks the Home of Rolls-Royce itself.

Separated by less than a mile, the coordinates quietly anchor the commission to the place where it was imagined, designed and handcrafted.

It is the sort of detail that many owners may never notice.

Yet once discovered, it becomes impossible to forget.

Bespoke Storytelling at Its Finest

Phantom Regatta demonstrates that Rolls-Royce Bespoke has evolved beyond simple personalisation.

This is not a matter of selecting unique colours or exotic materials.

It is about transforming personal memories, landscapes and traditions into automotive design.

Every colour, material, plank of walnut and painted brushstroke.

Each element contributes to a single narrative inspired by Britain’s maritime heritage and expressed through one of the world’s finest luxury automobiles.

Where Luxury Finds Its Meaning

The most extraordinary Rolls-Royce commissions rarely rely on extravagance.

Instead, they succeed through restraint.

Phantom Regatta is a perfect example.

Rather than overwhelming the senses with precious materials or dramatic ornamentation, it celebrates craftsmanship, storytelling and emotional connection.

It transforms the experience of sailing into the language of automotive design.

And in doing so, it reminds us that true Bespoke luxury is not defined by exclusivity alone.

It is defined by meaning.
