RUF CTR3 Clubsport — Jet Black

Right-Hand Drive · 766 BHP · 1 of 29 Produced

A Mid-Engine Icon Engineered Without Compromise

The RUF CTR3 Clubsport represents one of the most radical and technically accomplished road cars ever produced by RUF Automobile GmbH — a manufacturer globally revered for redefining the limits of Porsche-based performance engineering.

Chassis no. 008, presented here, is an exceptionally rare right-hand drive example finished in Jet Black over a Black interior, showing just 15,600 miles from new. As one of only 29 CTR3 units produced worldwide, it stands among the most exclusive and collector-significant models ever to leave Pfaffenhausen.

RUF’s heritage traces back to 1939, when Alois Ruf Sr. established Auto Ruf as a service garage. Under the direction of Alois Ruf Jr., the company evolved into a fully fledged manufacturer, gaining global recognition with landmark creations such as the original CTR “Yellowbird,” once the fastest production car in the world. Today, RUF remains a benchmark name in low-volume, high-performance automotive engineering.

The CTR3 itself was unveiled in 2007 at the Bahrain International Circuit, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the original CTR. Developed with engineering input from Multimatic, its design evokes the silhouette of 1960s Le Mans endurance racers. Unlike traditional rear-engine CTR models, the CTR3 adopted a mid-engine architecture derived from Porsche’s Cayman platform, fundamentally transforming weight distribution and handling dynamics.

Power comes from a twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, enlarged and re-engineered by RUF to deliver extraordinary performance. In Clubsport specification, as featured on chassis 008, output rises to an impressive 766 bhp. This immense power is channelled to the rear wheels via a competition-derived 6-speed sequential manual gearbox paired with a limited-slip differential — delivering an experience that is as visceral as it is precise.

Delivered new to its original UK owner in April 2010, this example was later returned to RUF in 2013 for conversion to full Clubsport specification. Upgrades include the 766 bhp engine package, titanium exhaust system, gold leaf-coated dry sump oil tank, 997 GT3 RSR front axle control arms and anti-roll bars, 997 GT2 motorsport clutch, and Öhlins adjustable dampers with bespoke springs front and rear. Each enhancement reflects RUF’s uncompromising motorsport philosophy applied to a road-usable platform.

Despite its competition-focused engineering, the interior remains both luxurious and driver-centric. Quilted Alcantara trim, carbon fibre racing seats and extensive lightweight detailing are complemented by modern usability features, including a high-power audio system — a reminder that the CTR3 was conceived not solely for the circuit, but for exhilarating road use.

Now offered for sale, chassis no. 008 presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of RUF’s most celebrated and least-seen creations. Combining extreme performance, engineering pedigree and true production rarity, the CTR3 Clubsport remains a model that has, until recently, flown under the radar of mainstream collectors — a status that is rapidly changing.

For the discerning enthusiast seeking something beyond the conventional hypercar hierarchy, few machines deliver such a compelling blend of exclusivity, motorsport DNA and analogue intensity.
